Obtaining Results

When you attend for a blood test of any kind you will be told by the nurse or Health Care Assistant how long you should expect to wait for the results.

You can find our your results by requesting them via askmyGP by clicking here, or by telephoning us on 01563 523593 between 10.30am - 4.30pm.

All test samples are collected and sent to the laboratory three times per day.

You will be told by the clinician to make sure you contact the surgery to obtain your results and the practice will only call you with your result in exceptional circumstances or if your GP feels it is necessary.

As the patient, it is your responsibility to contact us to obtain your results.

Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the patient they relate to unless that person has given prior written permission for their release to someone else or if the GP determines that the patient is not capable of understanding them.

Most results (blood, urine & stool samples) will be available about 1 week after the test has been done but occasionally some results may take longer. If they have to be sent to a laboratory out-with the health board area the result may not be received for up to two weeks or longer.

If a Consultant at the Hospital has requested a test (e.g. x-ray/blood tests, scans etc) those results will go back to the Consultant and you should contact the Hospital direct for those results.  However tests done here or which a GP has requested, for e.g. x-ray, scan etc can be obtained from the Practice.
